Pre-cooked lamb/mutton for Balti cooking
Pre-cooked lamb/mutton can be used in our balti dishes, especially if you are looking for a faster way of producing your balti dish. Unlike chicken, which can be cooked from raw, lamb/mutton needs to be cooked for longer to become tender.
Ingredients:
450g of lamb/mutton off the bone
1 onion peeled and finely chopped
25g of fresh ginger peeled and chopped
3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1 1/2 tsp of balti mixed powder
1/2 tsp of salt
500ml of water
Method:
- Trim any fat off the meat and cut into small bite sized pieces.
- Add all the ingredients to a pan, cover and bring to a boil.
- Turn down to a simmer cover with a lid and cook for 1 hour 15 minutes stirring every 15 minutes.
- Drain and use as portions of 12 pieces or cool and freeze in portions.
- To re-use frozen portions, ensure that they are de-frosted fully before use.
